Ben Uri Gallery and Museum is committed to allowing all visitors, regardless of ability, to enjoy our exhibitions and library with ease. Provided here is information about the museum space, online and in-person and how that will impact your trip to the museum. Please email admin@benuri.org with any questions or concerns.
Ticketing and Events
Admission to the Museum is often free of charge: please check online. - Gallery hours: Wednesday to Friday 10:00 am - 5:30 pm
If you are having difficulty in accessing instructions for online events, please reach out to admin@benuri.org for more information.
Any person or group who needs special assistance or accommodations when coming to the gallery should email admin@benuri.org to arrange a mutually convenient time.
Getting to the Museum
Museum Entrance and Exit
- There is step-free access to Ben Uri’s ground floor gallery.
- It is not possible for wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties to access our lower galleries, of which there are 3, due to a flight of stairs.
- We do display a digital slideshow of all exhibitions and their works in our ground floor gallery so that digital versions can be viewed

Buses
- 139 and 189 service Boundary Road
- 16/32/98 to Kilburn High Road
Parking
Either side of Boundary Road but pay the side you are parked as different Boroughs. Blue Badge Parking available.
Gallery Accessibility
Visitors who require extra assistance or specialist facilities should email admin@benuri.org to arrange support in advance.
Quieter times
Due to our small space, the museum is often quietest between 10:15 am and 12:30 pm and between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. If you have any worries, please contact admin@benuri.org and we will be happy to advise if any tours are pre-organised during these times on your planned visit.
There is very little outside traffic noise.
Please note that some late openings and VIP events have additional activities that can be busy.
Assistance and alarms
It is unlikely that you hear an alarm during your visit.
The door sensor makes a beeping noise when it is opened.If you need any assistance during your time, please ask any of our staff.
Lighting
Our main gallery has adjustable lighting and natural light.
Lower galleries have adjustable lighting but rely on the artificial lighting for viewing purposes. All lighting can be adjusted on a need basis.
Temperature
It can be quite cold in our gallery during severe weather, so it is advisable to bring an extra layer of clothing to put on.
Lifts and access to galleries
A wheelchair ramp is available for access to the ground floor gallery through the Boundary Road entrance. There is no elevator access to the downstairs galleries. We are happy to try and assist with providing specific materials from downstairs. Please ask any member of staff for assistance.
Toilet
Our toilet is not accessible for wheelchair usage.
The closest accessible bathroom is at the Abbey Community Centre at 172 Belsize Rd, London NW6 4BJ.
Seating
Stools and chairs are available on the ground floor and lower galleries. Please speak to a member of staff for assistance.
Visitors with Hearing Impairment
Unfortunately, induction loops nor sound enhancement systems are not available in the gallery and museum.
Service, assistant, and emotional support animals
Service, assistant, and emotional support animals – including assistant dogs in training – are welcome at the Museum.
Visitors with Physical Disabilities
If you require a guide to assist you around the building, please email admin@benuri.org in advance to request.
Large print label books are available in all galleries.

The Ben Uri Gallery and Museum works to maintain a positive health and safety culture. This requires commitment and active co-operation by staff and trustees alike, supported by sufficient resources and guidance.
The Museum is committed to a safe and healthy working environment and achieves this by:
● Eliminating hazards and reducing risks through audit, inspection, and risk assessment.
● Providing and maintaining materials, equipment and machinery
that are safe and do not present unacceptable risks.
● Delivering information, instruction, and supervision as necessary to ensure everybody can work safely.
● Ensuring safe working practices wherever the Gallery operates, to meet the expectation of a safe and healthy working environment and the prevention of work-related injury and ill health.
● Identifying risks and opportunities to ensure continual
improvement in health and safety performance.
● Providing adequate resources for the effective management of
health and safety. The Museum believes commitment to health and safety is essential in the proper execution of management responsibilities. All management and team leaders will maintain the necessary competencies and skills to effectively manage their health and safety responsibilities. Health and safety is an integral part of planning and implementation at all levels.The Museum will endeavor to ensure the safety of visitors, partners and contractors at the gallery for events, and partnership collaborations and maintenance through effective communications. This health and safety policy is reviewed regularly and revised as required. It is available to all staff and trustees and brought to the attention of others working with or for the Museum digitally.
All staff and trustees are expected to implement the requirements of the Museum’s health and safety management system including, but not limited to:
● The reporting and investigation of incidents.
● Identification of hazards and management of risks.
● Ensuring the competence of staff and trustees.
● Ensuring adequate resources are provided to maintain a safe and healthy environment.All staff and trustees are responsible for ensuring, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of all visitors, contractors and others who may be affected by the activities they manage both on site and elsewhere.
To maintain the positive health and safety culture to which the Museum aspires, all staff must be competent and discharge their responsibilities. To this end staff are expected to acquire the information necessary and to maintain their competencies during their employment.
All staff are expected to:
● To take reasonable care for their health and safety and the health and safety of anyone who may be affected by their actions or non-actions at work.● To cooperate with the Museum or other site users and comply with agreed safety arrangements.
● To not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety, or welfare in pursuance of any of the relevant statutory provisions.
● To report to their manager any work situation representing a
serious and imminent danger.
