Although the precision of Cohen’s hard edges, ruled lines and perfect circles aligns his work with sixties Pop Art, this influence is moderated by the freely sketched lines and gestural shape placed slightly off centre. In this painting, Cohen contrasts two different forms to suggest a sense of the process of change. The artist has said that through the combination of such shapes he hoped to create an overall image that was new and unique.
