Moich Abrahams was born into a Jewish émigré family (to a Hungarian mother and a father of Belarussian descent), in Hitchin in 1941, growing up in nearby Letchworth Garden City. He read Maths at King’s College London, then taught maths and drawing to children with special needs before training at Byam Shaw School of Art, now St Martins (1970-74), afterwards continuing to teach before studying for an MA at Goldsmiths (1980-82).
He has had solo shows in London at the Flecha Gallery and the Chenil Gallery, as well as in Bucklesbury Gallery, Hitchin and Cambridge University. Since 1975 he has exhibited frequently with The London Group (elected a member in 1977) and his work has also been included in numerous exhibitions at venues including Morley Gallery, Espacio Gallery, The Apricot Gallery at the The Rag Factory (The Magma Group), the Hayward Gallery, the Mall Galleries, Bankside Gallery, Menier Old Chocolate Factory, Deutsche Bank, the ICA, the Whitechapel Gallery, Camden Arts Centre and the Royal College of Art.
