This pen and ink drawing is one of the three preparatory studies for costume designs for an unidentified production by a Berlin-born book illustrator and textile artist Renate Meyer. Although the girl’s costume is not worked through in great detail, apart from the few lines delineating the ruffled apron dress she is wearing, her facial features and figure are depicted with great skill, resulting in a lively and expressive portrait.
