This illustrated menu records the wedding meal given at the Richmond home of refugee Old Master art dealer Arthur Kauffmann and his doctor wife, Tamara, for their son (Claus) Michael upon his marriage to Dorothea Hill (whose name is playfully referenced in the dishes 'à la hill') in 1954. It is perhaps also an affectionate nod to the hospitality that the couple provided to many fellow refugee friends in need, including Wilczynski and dealer Grete Ring, during the war.
