Frank Rosen
Inspired by literally hundreds of visits to the English Royal Ballet performances on their tour of South Africa in the 1960’s, Rosen pushed the frontiers of texture to its utmost. He made hand-carved almost jewellery-like shapes cut skilfully out of sheets of zinc metal, to form intricate figures and abstract shapes. Combined with deep etching techniques and gossamer fine aquatint layers of colour, images of intricate and delicate form and movement emerged.
