Jacob Epstein 1880-1959
Chaim Azriel Weizmann was born in Motal, Belarus, then within the Russian Empire, in 1874. He immigrated to Britain in 1904 to take up a post as senior lecturer in the deparment of Chemistry at the University of Manchester. He became a British citizen in 1910 and remained in England until he became the first President of Israel in 1949, remaining in the post until his death in 1952.
