The Suitcase” is a work created in 2022 in response to the global refugee crisis. It addresses the themes of forced displacement and loss of home, which have become defining humanitarian issues of our time. While in 2022 the number of forcibly displaced people stood at around 100 million, today it is approaching 140 million, according to the United Nations. The work was presented at the Edinburgh Festival and was later acquired by the city, becoming part of theofficial art collection of Edinburgh. The project was also supported by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the United Kingdom.
