In 1942 Wilczkysnki had her first solo exhibition in London at refugee sculptor and art dealer William Ohly's Berkeley Galleries, showing her meticulous drawings of architecture and scenery from her European travels. They were connected through a mutual, pre-migration friendship with the Old Master dealer, Arthur Kauffmann, and may also have known each other in Weimar Germany before coming to London. This delicately-tinted line drawing depicts Ohly's kitchen, in which the mixture of cooking utensils, food and many fascinating art objects including ancient sculpture, a dream-catcher and a vase, denote the central place that non-Western art held in Ohly's personal and professional life.
