Marek Zulawski 1908-1985
Żuławski was originally influenced by Post-Impressionism, but postwar focused on simplified designs, often with muted palettes. By contrast, this later bold Seated Female Nude, a modern retelling of the biblical story of Susanna and the Elders, shows a bolder palette reflecting the influence of Pop Art. The flattening of space and form is consistent with his graphic work, although the human figure remained central to his art.
