Although known primarily as a sculptor in bronze, plaster, clay, stone and marble, German-born and American-raised Annette Rowdon brought the same feeling for forms to her works on paper with the freedom of mark balanced by the judicious application of limited colour. Her non-figurative works often had a spiritual dimension. This expressive monoprint was purchased by Ben Uri in 1986 after having been featured in Ben Uri’s ‘Open Exhibition’ in 1985.
