By the late 1920s Bennett had become a knowledgeable and independent art collector, also financially supporting the distinguished quarterly Art and Letters, which published work by Modigliani, Gaudier-Brzeska and Wyndham Lewis, among others. Bennett sat for innumerable portraits between 1891 and 1929 by artists including William Rothenstein, and was frequently caricatured by artists including Max Beerbohm and William Nicholson, as well as Mark Wayner.
