These unique pencil sketches show how Moshe Oved developed some of his extremely original jewellery designs. According to a story, it was while sheltering in the basement of his 'Cameo Corner' store in Museum Street during the Blitz, that Oved first began modelling animal design rings to steady his trembling hands. Most of Oved’s ring designs were anthropomorphic in nature. The sketches offer a unique glimpse into the eccentric designer’s working process. They offer details on the ring sizes and the writings to be engraved on the base of the rings, based on Oved’s poetry. In some cases, Oved also included a brief sketch of how a specific object would look while worn.
