This colourful pastel depicts the Western Wall (kotel) in Jerusalem on a sunny day, with the Dome of the Rock on Temple Mount visible behind. The work is Impressionistic in its style, owing to the early artistic training Pissarro received from her grandfather Paulémile Pissarro, which led to her becoming interested in, and dedicating her life to, painting.
