Dr. Simon Pierse was born in London. He is Emeritus Senior Lecturer at Aberystwyth University and author of the award-winning Australian Art and Artists in London 1950-1965: An Antipodean Summer, published by Ashgate in 2012. He has written extensively on British post-war art and the Australian creative diaspora to London. Other publications include contributions to Antipodean Perspective, Selected writings of Bernard Smith and Transferences: Sidney Nolan in Britain. His biography of the Australian expatriate art dealer Alannah Coleman (1918-1998) was published by Arden in 2022. He is currently working with Australian colleagues on a book on William Ohly and the Abbey Art Centre to be published by Routledge.
