Portrait of Alice Herz-Sommer
Based in London, Marion Davies is an award-winning fine art documentary photographer with a background in social science and social work. Her work focuses on themes of remembrance and memory. She is the daughter of German-Jewish émigré art dealer Herbert Bier (1905-1981), who found refuge in Britain during the 1930s.
Davies' published work includes "Absence and Loss: Holocaust Memorials in Berlin" (David Paul, 2007), "Faces in the Void: Czech Survivors of the Holocaust" (Shaun Tyas, 2012) (with poet Jane Liddell-King), and "Dispersal: Picturing Urban Change in East London" (Historic England, 2017) (with Debra Rapp and Juliet Davis).
