This additional etching accompanied the deluxe edition of The Children’s Crusade. This artist proof was printed by the master lithographer Stanley Jones, at his Curwen Studio near Cambridge. Paula and Stanley were students together at the Slade and she gifted a numbered edition of this lithograph to recognise the studio on its 50th anniversary. It is a kind of parody of lithography. The model, as Tom Rosenthal says, playfully, is riding a “hobby horn”.
