Rabin attended Mohammed Ali’s fight with Henry Cooper in 1963 and sketched from near ringside. None of the drawings survived. Stanley Paine told Sharon Taylor that the head was deliberately an amalgam of Mohammed Ali and Sam Rabin himself.
