‘Wave’ breaks into ‘rock’ as the letters swash across the page, mimicking water striking the shore. In 1966, Finlay developed the Wave/Rock idea into a glass poem produced in a small edition. Although often regarded as a Finlay print, this particular design was created by Bernadette Shrimpton as part of a project at Bath School of Art in which students developed their own versions of poetic concepts.
