This work captures the sheer power and beauty of a South African sunrise. The vibrant addition of acrylic colours to his self-styled description of ‘mixed media technique’ broke on Rosen’s visual shore, creating an exciting wave of huge experimental potential. The dazzling effect of acrylics opened the door to an artistic world which, until this point, Rosen had only dreamed of. He continued to plumb the endless possibility of this medium through the Middle, Later and Final phases of his work.
