This publication was produced to accompany an exhibition held at Osborne Samuel in Mayfair, London (2010), which showcased outstanding examples from the Ben Uri Collection. The focus of this catalogue is Marc Chagall’s Apocalypse en Lilas, Capriccio. In 2010, Ben Uri acquired the lost Chagall masterwork, which shows the artist’s private response to the end of the war, the Holocaust and the death of his wife Bella. Prior to the 2010 exhibition, the work had never been exhibited or published. Also included in this richly illustrated catalogue are works by Frank Auerbach, David Bomberg, Max Liebermann, Lélia Pissarro, Isaac Rosenberg and Solomon J Solomon RA. It also contains two essays by Chagall specialist Professor Ziva Amishai-Maisels.
