The catalogue foreword to Scarlet Nikolska's 1982 exhibition with Adam Green at the Michael Sobell Centre in London observed that her images were 'a blend of scenes encountered in Prague, Cracow and Budapest. Affectionate piety for a vanished world, reflected in ochres and browns, is enlivened by glints of blue, white and yellow from the present'.
