Michael and Elie’s happiness is spontaneous and infectious: a moment of pure joy and togetherness. Photographer Yaki Assayag aims to capture the interaction between his subjects and his camera rather than predetermining the composition. This work is a part of a series he began after moving to New York, reflecting upon his relationships and his new environment. He primarily lends his camera to portraiture work, calling it ‘the most interesting side of photography as there are many ways to approach such a dynamic and fascinating subject’. Within his approach, Assayag finds that, through building a relationship with his subjects, ultimately, ‘there is no limit to what the camera can expose’.
